There is the general consensus on TRP that short ugly guys of certain ethnic groups will have a low SMV (Sexual Market Value). The common consensus is that one should work out to increase their sexual market value. I 100% agree, but the reality is that different clothes and working out is only going to do so much. According to conventional TRP wisdom, the only options the guy has is to get a surgery to increase his height, bleach his skin to the appropriate color and then get cosmetic surgery. Or is there another way ? Short answer is yes. Is it easy to do ? Short answer is no, most people want easy solutions, even if they don’t work. If you are that type of person, stop reading right now. If you are of low intelligence and can not understand analogy or how to transfer knowledge from one area to another. Stop reading right now.
Perception is reality
We all like to think that only people of low intelligence can be manipulated or influenced. And we all like to think we can’t be manipulated we are too smart for that. If that was the case, tricks by magicians would not work on intelligent people. The same magical trick works on everyone, even if you know how the trick works your senses will still be fooled.
Who is David Ogilvy ?
David Ogilvy was one of the greatest minds in advertising, he also was one of the greatest influencers. By his own account one of his greatest influences was Claude Hopkins who pioneered the era of modern advertising. Advertising before Claude Hopkins was extremely simple, it would usually show a picture of the item, how much the item cost a very terse description. For the consumer, it was extremely simple to see which was the better product or the cheapest product. Claude Hopkin stumbled upon one hidden truth.
The consumber just has to think the product is the best one.
Claude Hopkins discovered that he didn’t need to have the best product, all he needed to do was convince people that the product which he was selling was the best one. More importantly he used scientific methods to show to measure how effective his techniques where. David Oglivy then took Claude Hopkins methods and enhanced them.
How to get people to buy a product which is ugly ?
This is the problem which David Oglivy faced when he accept the account for VW back in the 1960s.
