A crack lets the light in

A reality cracker is someone who examines people’s perception of reality and then looks for ways to exploit it. In Reality cracking - cracks let the light in I talked about the famous reality crackers Fravia and Orc. When reading the book The Good Soldier Svejk one is always asking the question, is he a buffoon or a reality ? Authorities from ranging from the USA to Nazi Germany couldn’t decide, to be safe they banned it. The book was the inspiration for works like Catch-22,Mash,Forest Gump etc. How could a Czech Forest Gump be subversive ? Why is a book written almost a century ago still important ? Reading books as Nicholas Carr puts it, prevents one from becoming shallow and develops our mind. This is why you should read a book by one of the world’s first trolls and sock-puppets.

Senator Manny Pacquiao as a gesture of generosity bought 2000 tickets worth $1 million and gave them to his friends. He then flew in some of his friends from the government including his friend PNP Chief Bato. The question is, did Senator Pacquiao or PNP Chief Bato commit a crime?

Trump getting elected overshadowed the death of Leonard Cohen but the two are related. I first discovered Leonard Cohen back in 1995 when I stumbled across a website run by +Fravia. The site would change my perception of reality along with many others. The original site contained a series of cracking tutorials written by +ORC, with new tutorials being intermittently released. Cracking is the term used by software reverse engineers who remove copy protection from software. +ORC’s tutorials differed from others in that they contained two parts. The first part was technical information on removing software protection; the second part was about something called reality cracking which is similar to social engineering.

After I had gained some social skills, I wanted to make up for lost time. Along the way, I met many interesting people, one of them being a middle aged conman. When talking to people, I try not to expect; this makes people feel comfortable around me, and often they confide in me. My conman acquaintance tried to pull a few scams on me, after failing he started to confide in me. He enjoyed telling stories but then sometimes he would give me advice. Never bullshit yourself, he said suddenly. Knowing his reputation as a bullshitter I was baffled, I then asked him what did he mean. His blue eyes turn hard, which signaled he was going to have a serious talk with me.

Just like a fish can not see water, you can not see culture, yet it influences all of our decisions. Culture are the values and beliefs which a group of people share. Just like a fish can not see water, you can not see culture, yet it influences all of our decisions. Culture is the values and beliefs shared group of people. Most cultures have their own language. If the culture is an ethnic group, it is a formal language such as French, a subculture like a motorcycle gang will use own slang. Related to culture is religion, the separation between culture is a recent one. Even if a person abandons the traditional religion of their culture, it will continue to influence their decisions. These unseen influences originate in our subconscious.

Why watch a movie like Apollo 13 ? I already know the plot, astronauts get stranded in space, smart NASA guys figure out a solution, astronauts return to earth. I know what will happen, why watch the movie ? A related question, why did we evolve to enjoy the listening and telling for stories ? I will share my thoughts on these questions and in the process explain why the journey is more important then the destination.
